Excitement is building as DAB Three Events prepares for tomorrow’s highly anticipated announcement, the official unveiling of a new musical talent set to join its dynamic roster. The spotlight is on young artist Ricky Ice, an emerging artist whose refreshing sound, raw passion, and undeniable charisma position him as one of the most promising voices of his generation. With his debut album on the way, Ricky Ice is steadily carving a path that promises to leave a lasting mark on the music landscape.
Ricky Ice’s journey in music began remarkably early. He discovered his love for sound and rhythm at just five years old, a passion that continued to grow and take shape throughout his childhood. His commitment became even clearer when he recorded his very first song shortly after completing his Grade 7 examinations, an early milestone that signalled the beginning of something extraordinary. “I appreciate Winky D very much. He has always been that positive figure in my life who I always look up to. I follow his performances a lot, I respect the way he carries himself both on and off the stage. He is really a major influence in my music career”, he said.
However Ricky stated that he does not only derive influence from local artists. He also stated that he also listens mostly to international music as far as Japan and Brazil.
“I have to learn how other artists abroad make their music. I do my research, pay attention to how other artists globally operate in the music industry. Therefore I would think of myself as a versatile artist who is not only confined in the single space”, he added.
The young artist embraces a diverse approach to his creativity, refusing to confine himself to a single genre. Instead, he explores a multitude of styles, blending elements from various artistic realms to create work that is uniquely his own. This versatility allows him to express a wide range of emotions, ideas, and perspectives, making his art dynamic and ever-evolving. “I have always told myself that I can do anything, I never back away from a challenge. I started singing Zim Dancehall then I managed to fuse Zim Dance hall with Urban Grooves and then called it Urban Dancehall that is what people should watch out for in my new album it is really going to be exciting”
The artist is pouring his heart and soul into his debut album, hoping it becomes the catalyst that propels him into a much greater and more prominent space in the music world. For him, this project is more than just a collection of songs. He described it as a deeply personal expression of his journey, his emotions, and the stories he wants to share with the world. Ricky Ice stepped into the spotlight last year when he participated in the very first Dab Three Kasi to Kasi Talent Search a ground-breaking platform created to discover and elevate raw talent from local communities. Among countless aspiring performers, he distinguished himself with unmatched creativity, passion, and stage presence. Through hard work and undeniable artistry, Ricky Ice rose above the competition and was ultimately crowned the Best Artist of the edition.
This victory marked more than just a win, it became a turning point in his journey. Meanwhile Ricky revealed that his musical journey has been far from smooth or easy, admitting that he has encountered numerous challenges along the way that have truly tested his grit, resilience, and unwavering determination. Despite the obstacles he has faced, each struggle has shaped him into the artist he is today, pushing him to grow, persevere, and remain steadfast in his passion for music. His honesty about the hardships he’s endured offers a glimpse into the depth of his character and the relentless drive that fuels his pursuit of success.
“There are always people who have something negative to say about my musical career people who believe this music journey won’t work out. It hasn’t been easy. I remember back in Form 2, I used to go to a place called Mashumba, where they made furniture. I’d work there and earn around US$10 a day, and I would use that money to go to the studio. Sometimes I didn’t earn anything at all, which made things even harder. But I persevered I didn’t give up.” said Ricky Ice. 
Ricky Ice went on to emphasize that nothing beats having a positive mindset and being goal-oriented. He stated that a positive mindset grounded in dedication is the key to everything.
