Bulawayo-based events company Dabthree Events has partnered with the Bulawayo City Council and Benniah Foods to launch the ‘BYO Kasi to Kasi Talent Search,’ a city-wide initiative aimed at providing a platform for emerging local talent.
The series of talent showcases, scheduled to span to various townships, seeks to make performance spaces more accessible to Bulawayo’s budding artists.
Dabthree Events’ Marketing Director, Archford Hadebe, shared that the project was inspired by a need to reach talented individuals who often lack access to formal platforms to showcase their abilities. “We realized most people in Bulawayo find it hard to get platforms to showcase their talents. So, we decided to take the opportunity directly to their townships. The Bulawayo City Council has generously opened up their youth centers across the city for us to use,” Hadebe said.
The inaugural event will be held on Saturday, October 19, at the Inyathi Youth Center in Mpopoma and will later extend to other neighborhoods, including Mzilikazi, Cowdray Park, and Pumula.
The talent search is open to Bulawayo residents between the ages of 18 and 35 and invites participants from various art forms, including music, poetry, theatre, dance, and drama. A panel of renowned artists from the industry will judge the competition, providing feedback and guidance to participants as they perform.
Through the BYO Kasi to Kasi Talent Search, Dabthree Events and its partners aim to nurture the city’s creative potential and promote local artistry.
