In a vibrant burst of energy, the Bulawayo Theatre stage came alive on Saturday, August 3, 2024. Adoe, the rising star, graced the spotlight, unveiling songs from his debut album, “Uhambo Lwami.”
His journey, rooted in early participation in school and church choirs, has led him to this remarkable moment.
Recently crowned the winner of the Mr. Sinkwa Ultimate Jingle Challenge on Skyz Metro FM, Adoe walked away with a thousand dollars.
Today, we sit down with the artist to delve into the extraordinary moments that shaped his 2024.
On August 3 you hosted your first live show in Bulawayo. How did that experience feel for you?
I had the best experience on stage last Saturday. It was my first time performing most of the songs that are in my debut album and the way the audience received them made the experience special.
We had an amazing band (M2M) and that gave me confidence.
This was your first performance since launching your debut album, Uhambo Lwami. How did the audience respond to your new music?
The audience was receptive. The energy we got from people who came to support us kept us going. They joined us on stage and danced in songs like “ofana nawe” and “yintoni”.
Winning the Mr. Sinkwa Ultimate Jingle Challenge must have been a big moment for you. How has it influenced your musical journey?
It really was a big moment for me. Winning the jingle competition made me believe in myself and in my art. It was a confidence booster for me; a turning point.
My jingle had a traditional and native sound, and having to win the contest with that sound gives me drive to push a sound that is original and authentic to me.
What’s next on the horizon for Adoe? What can your fans look forward to musically?
My fans should expect to see me perform live more often. Also, I’m promising to release more music. I’m looking forward to work with other artists.
As we wrap up, what advice would you give to aspiring artists who dream of making it in the music industry?
My advice is that be authentic, do you and take your craft seriously. Also, be patient while you try to make a name for yourself.
